We were up until about midnight Sunday night getting more things packed. After packing up the van and sending mom and the boys on their way, I laid down for a nap. I figured I would do better if I took a nap and then worked late. However, when I woke up I had a nice migraine…so it too about another 2 hours until the meds kicked in and I could really get to work.
So Monday morning…we were supposed to pick up the moving truck at 9:00. Well, someone called to tell us that only 2 trucks showed up over the weekend instead of 3…so there wasn’t one for us…ARGH!!! They did some calling around and found one downtown…so off went Dave and Mike to pick that one up. When they arrived the guy there told them they had sent the truck to Post Rd (where we were supposed to pick up originally), but luckily they had another one there. So FINALLY the truck arrived about 11. We had quite a few teens show up to help at 9:30…so they carried all furniture to the main level and then sat around telling jokes until the truck arrived. Then we all got to work. It was HOOOOOTTT!!! Heidi and Deanna Wrigley made lunch for all of us…THANK YOU SO MUCH…so we quickly ate and got back to work.
The truck was loaded and we pulled out of 9045 E. 21st St for the last time at 4:15. We arrived at mom and dad’s at 7:20 or so…which means we made good time, considering the rental truck doesn’t move all that fast and we drove through some rush hour traffic. My aunt, uncle and cousin were here to help, as well as, another uncle…THANK YOU!!!
In the meantime we wanted to move our pickup around closer to the house to unload, but it wouldn’t start, so it is sitting there not running. Dave tried to replace a part, but that didn’t do the trick. He thinks it is either the fuel pump or the “brain” that is the problem. The frustrating part is that we will probably have to call a tow truck as well, because we can’t start it to take it anywhere.
Then, to add to the frustration today, we took the truck back and stopped to fill up with gas. Basically, the pump was a bit messed up, so that took forever (this after waiting at least 10 min. for a train). Add to this multiple times bumping our heads on the dormers in the room where we are staying. OUCH!
I cleaned the laundry room and entry way today. And we got our mattress, shelves, and recliner carried upstairs. Cleaned the bathroom sink, and got a few things situated in my dresser. I was hoping to get more done today, but I guess we did make good progress.
Dave is taking my aunt and others to Chicago to the airport tomorrow and then he will meet up with his brother and spend the night there. It will be good for him to relax a bit. We have a lot to do here, but he has worked soooooooooo hard the last 2 days, well really, the last several months, but especially the last 2 days. He needs a break!
I’m hoping to tackle the boys’ room a bit tomorrow, we will see how far I get.
Well, what a long post, and I’m about to fall asleep. So I’m off to bed and hope that everyone sleeps in tomorrow…won’t hold my breath, but I can hope!
Oh…I know I’ve said some thanks, but we really appreciate all the help we have received from our friends and family. Overall, things went very smoothly and that is due to all the help we have received. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
