Job search and waiting…

Dave is currently working at Lowe’s in Goshen (northern IN). Early last week he had an interview at Lowe’s in Springfield, TN, which is approximately 45-50 minutes from where his parents live. They said they would get back with him by Thursday or Friday of last week, but we didn’t hear from them. Dave called them this morning and they told him that the HR lady had been out for 3 days, so they would check into it. Lowe’s is not where he wants to work long term, but at this point it would be a start for us to be able to move to KY. So, basically, I’m posting to ask for prayers that we would be patient and wait for the Lord’s direction in all of this.

I realize that no one likes to wait, but I feel like we’ve been waiting for over a year. God’s plan is perfect and I know there is a reason for all that happens. It helps me so much to know that I will look back and see why things happened the way they did, but waiting is still difficult. OK, I think that is enough whining from me.

I’m hoping to be able to post tomorrow…or maybe even later today with some good news.

Summer time!

Whew…it’s been a full summer and I’ve neglected getting any posting done here. I FINALLY got some pics edited to post and will try to give a little rundown of the summer.

I posted a while ago about Isaiah being in my cousin’s wedding. Here are a couple of picutres of that. The first is Isaiah with Chris and Heather and the second is with my youngest brother Aaron.

This spring Dad planted some new fruit trees with his little helper Isaiah

Then Mom, Dad and I tackled a bit flower bed that has never been completed. It involved moving out huge rocks, weeding, leveling, putting down the weed guard, adding mulch and moving the HUGE rocks back. Oh…and of course planting the plants. It wasn’t quite finished in this picture since we ran out of weed guard and mulch. We also added some more plants.

On one of our trips to Indy we got together with some old playdate friends. When the moms met (3 of us) we had these kiddos:

Then we went camping. The boys loved to go out on the pier and go fishing. They also got to go out and fish with Grandpa in his boat. Oh, and while at camp some of the older guys were doing haircuts so Daniel and Isaiah got their “camp haircuts”. (Joshua was sleeping).

The boys and I spent about 12 days in KY at the beginning of July. Here they are playing in the water to stay cool.

One day we went to Chaney’s Dairy Farm. We got to go on a little tractor ride down to the barn and meet Miss Glimmer (dairy cow) and each of the boys got a chance to milk her. They also meet Bambi who was a calf that was only a couple weeks old at the time. Then we went back to enjoy some ice cream cones.

Mimi bought the boys a Lego Sticker book. They enjoyed the stickers.

After returning from KY, one of my sisters-in-law, mom, and I had a shower for my other sister-in-law who is having twins (due in early Sept.) I made 2 diaper cakes and we made some cute little pea pod cupcakes (her nursery theme is Two Peas in a Pod).

We had been home about a week, when Dave’s grandma passed away so went returned to KY for a week to spend time with family.

Other news:

*Daniel lost his 3rd tooth yesterday and the silly tooth fairy only gave him one quarter this time instead of two….MAN, she is forgetful!!!

*Yesterday was also a big day because we made the decision to homeschool Daniel this year. We have been considering it for quite some time, but finally made the big decision yesterday. I am excited, but also a bit overwhelmed. Daniel is also pretty excited, but is also sad that he won’t get to see his friends at school. We got our books ordered and now will just wait until they arrive. In the meantime I will try to gather a few other supplies we may need. I also plan to get Isaiah some books to use to work on alphabet and numbers and such. Please keep us in your prayers as we embark on this journey.

Play ball!

Daniel is playing in the PeeWee league this year. We didn’t realize registration had already taken place, but my dad talked to someone about getting Daniel on a team (most of the kids on the teams attend the school in the next county). Daniel was so excited to go play. He was jumping and squirming all over…lol! However, he missed the first practice and then next was postponed due to rain, as was the raindate. So…he was a little unprepared. The poor boy. He loves to hit balls, but we’ve never really played the game (hit the ball, drop the bat, run to base, etc). His first time at bat he did hit the ball, but then just stood there. He finally ran partway to 1st, but was still carrying the bat. The second time at bat was similar.

The coaches did a great job at encouraging all the kids. Even those on the opposite team. And the focus really is on having fun. I hope it stays that way. Their team plays about 10 games or so between now and June 18. It will be fun to compare playing skills at the last game to tonight’s game.

We had a lot of fun watching the game and were very proud of Daniel.

Happy Mother’s Day

I got a beautiful pillow that Daniel made at school. And yes, I REALLY think it’s beautiful (not like some projects hehe).

He brought it home Friday and was so excited. He said “I know I’m supposed to wait til Sunday, but I want to give it to you now.” I told him that was ok. I LOVE IT!

We went to church this morning and then grabbed KFC for lunch at home. (Dave and I did Applebee’s for lunch yesterday). I tried to take a nap. I didn’t think that was asking too much, but apparantly I was. Oh well. Then this afternoon was my niece’s birthday party. After we got home all 4 guys here got haircuts. They were getting rather shaggy!

Thanks to my mom for being such a great mom and for all that she does for us! There is NO way I could ever thank her enough or repay her for what she does! What an amazing woman! I LOVE YOU!

bike riding

When I got home this afternoon Isaiah proudly told me that he had been riding Daniel’s bike a little bit today. Yes, Daniel rides with 2 wheels. Daddy was helping him, but said that he would go about 20 feet on his own, “dump over” and then hop right back on. Way to go little man! Who wants to be stuck on training wheels while big brother zips around on two wheels. Oh…Isaiah was sure to tell me the “when it has 2 wheels he calls it a motorcycle.”

Have I mentioned that I love all my boys? I am so thankful to be able to be home with them and to see and hear most of the new things they do on a daily basis. Of course, there are some things that I see and hear that I would rather not, but in the overall picture I love being at home with them. God has been faithful to provide so that I am able to continue my job as wife and mom.

I just remembered another amusing tidbit from today.
Mom and I spent some time shopping this afternoon, and the shoes she wore were not the best option. After we got home she laid down on the couch for a bit and then got some cramps in her foot. Apparantly Joshua heard her say that. A few hours later she had the footrest on her chair up and I told him to tickle Grandma’s feet. He sat on the floor intently studying the bottoms of her feet. We looked at each other trying to figure out what he was doing. We asked what he was doing and he said he was looking for crabs. Crabs? What? Then mom realized…CRAMPS…LOL! Of course he had a very worried look because he didn’t want any crabs to get him. We told him they were all gone. He needed reassurance that the “crabs” were outside. Needless to say, we got a good laugh out of that one.

Notes about Joshua

I suppose he would manage to “type” some letters as the other 2 guys did, however, he is in bed.

For starters…Mr. Joshua is HILARIOUS. His facial expressions alone can send us into a fit of laughter. His vocabulary is quickly expanding and he is speaking in sentences. He likes to say “that’s awesome”, but of course it’s not very meaningful unless you can hear him slur it all together in person.

I mentioned this in a previous post, but since this is about Joshua, it bears repeating. At random he’ll say, “Hey, Mommy” He often receives (I’m ashamed to say) and exasperated, “What??” from Mommy. His response? “I looooove yoooou!” Which is said while holding up his fingers in the I Love You sign. And then I feel even more guilty for the exasperation. It’s so precious!

Joshy was a name many from the youth group at AFMC called him. Daniel still calls him that pretty frequently. In spite of the youthful nickname, he looks like such a little man. He always has. I remember people telling me that since the day he was born. He has a very expressive pair of big brown eyes, eyebrows that are used in the “grumpy, happy game”. He scrunches his eyebrows down, crosses his arms and says in a gruff voice “I’m gruuumpy!” The lifts his brows as high as he can and says “I’m haaaapy!” while throwing his arms in the air.

He is able to sing his ABC’s and gets most of the letters correct. Counts to 10, getting most correct.

Favorite toy: He really enjoys playing with tractors and motorcycles, HOWEVER, when he sees a real one he often gets very scared and doesn’t want them to “get him”.

He is my sleeper. He is the only one who will willingly lay down for a nap or go to bed. He gets his cork (pacifier) and blankie and usually wants “schocate milk”.

Well, I guess Joshua gets the most descriptive notes. I was a bit more distracted while working on the other 2.

Translation:

We have been working on memorizing Ephesians 6:1.” Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” And Sunday morning in his class, Isaiah learned that we can pray anytime and anywhere. He was so excited to tell me that as soon as he walked out of class.

Isaiah is growing up so quickly. I love to listen to him play and the stories that he creates. He is always telling me something about his “friends” or his “other brothers”. I love to see his tender caring heart when others are hurt or upset. He and Joshua play very well most of the time. As I speak they are playing with a motorcycle. Isaiah kindly asked to use it for a minute and Joshua gave it to him willingly. Isaiah had his moment with it and is now ready to give it back to Joshua. Okay, he didn’t help me on that one. Now he is upset that he has to return the motorcycle to Joshua…lol. “Joshy, when you’re done can I have it?”

Joshua: “I looooove yooooou!”
Mommy: “I looooove yooou too!” With a huge smile on my face.

Of course he is repeating what he has heard me say over and over, but he does it at the most random times.

Daniel’s? Hmmm…can’t think of one right now. Unless it includes the attitude that is raring it’s ugly head since going back to school after having almost 2 weeks off…UGH!
